Pete's Workout

WORKOUT TIPS 

  • mary2.jpgIf you are haven’t worked out within 30 days take the first 2 weeks to introduce your muscles to weights again.  Do one major exercise for 4 sets for each upper body part on Monday and work your whole lower body on Tuesday.  Repeat this the next week and then you can start regular workouts the following week.
  • My workout is advanced for muscle shocking.  You can do weeks one and two.  Especially in the beginning.  It is a 5-day work out, but works as a full body 4-day workout if you miss a day.  If you miss a day just push the days forward and skip Bi &Tri that is scheduled for Friday since they were already worked in the beginning of the week.
  • Its good to do 10 minutes of cardio to get your blood flowing before workouts.
  • You can work abs every other day so don’t be shy about weekend workouts.
  • Get an ab wheel and a crunch ball for the house
  • Utilize the ab exercises in the gym that you aren’t able to do at the house
  • Be more active with the family- (take the dog for a real walk)
  • Listen to your body-don’t over work it either- take an unscheduled day off if you really need it 

 

CARDIO/FAT BURN TIPS 

  • You can do cardio every day. 
  • The elliptical machines are great for beginners of people whose bodies ache.  They take pressure off joints.
  • If you continue to do the same cardio exercise you build up a tolerance that exercise will become less effective.  Alternate different machines and exercises once you hit a plateau.
  • I personally feel the best burn from the Stairmaster with the real stairs.
  • Swimming is a great cardio/fat burning exercise.
  • Exercising in a pool is great for people who are injured or in pain.

 

YOGA & STRETCHING

  • Stretching and yoga will aid in burning fat
  • Stretching helps your muscles not get injured when working out

 

*Anything you do that is more than what you previously did is better, but I recommend a minimum of 30 minutes.  The first 15 -20 minutes burns your simple sugars stored. The real fat burn starts after that.

 

* If you can only do your workouts once a day please do your workout before you cardio routine because you want the energy from the simple sugars for the work out and then when you do cardio/fat burning you will burn more fat.
